  • : CAST: Juli Tapken, Cameron Arnett, BJ Arnett, Jason Parr, Bruce Gruber and introducing Isaiah Simmons as “Nathaniel” RATING: We anticipate the film to receive a PG rating and hope to be able to submit the film for a rating via the Dove Foundation as well. USE: We are seeking products from brands that existed in 1968 and that still exist today. The goal is to obtain physical products (with their 1960s branding or assistance with recreating the packaging), signage, etc. to be used as part of the production design for the film. A bulk of the food-related items, especially the candy and snacks, will be used in a scene in which we will be recreating a 1968 corner market neighborhood store. In the scene, the lead, Nathaniel, visits his pal, Mr. Goldman, at the store. He pretends to be checking out the candy / snack display but, he’s really stalling. He’s really thinking about God and religion and the assassination of MLK, Jr.. To do this, he strikes up a conversation with Mr. Goldman. The opening scene of the film currently starts with CBS’ Walter Kronkite news broadcast during which Kronkite is delivering the news of MLK, Jr.’s assassination. That footage, which we’d appreciate CBS gifting us because we do not have the budget to purchase it, is scripted to be intercut with footage of Nathaniel and his family watching the broadcast in the midst of dinner. So, the packaged foods would be used as part of the set dressing in the kitchen or on the dinner table, depending on what the item is. The same would go for a brand partnership with a fast-food company such as Kentucky Fried Chicken. Brands that commonly use outdoor advertising, such as Delta, Ford, Chevrolet, McDonald’s, Chick Fil-A and actually, many of the food brands could provide signage (with their vintage 1960s logo or ads) in various exterior scenes or outside of the corner market neighborhood store. Nathaniel has two walking exterior scenes. If we are provided with vehicles from Ford or Chevrolet or the like, we would also use that as part of the production design to assist with creating a more realistic 1968 environment for the viewer. In addition to appearing in the film the brands that partner with us could also have the opportunity to be promoted inside the teaching guide that will accompany the film; depending on the level and type of contribution, they could also be involved in events related to the film such as sponsored screenings or included in paid advertising that the film’s producers initiate. Any era-appropriate apparel provided would be used to dress the actors playing Nathaniel’s parents or other extras.
